Birthday quilt finished

My nephew's 21st birthday quilt is all finished! My kitty Rose is supervising the photography.

The pattern for this came from Bonnie Hunters book :'Scraps and Shirttails' called "Star Gazing". I really love this quilt and it will be hard to part with, but I did think it was nice and masculine.

I had some fun collecting shirts for this.

The backing and label is also inspired by Bonnie, I really love her work.

This quilt is hanging in my hall way and I really think it is my favourite quilt. I made it when I first started working at The Country Yard .
It was run as a mystery quilt, there were three colourways and three different settings, you chose the pack of fabric in the colours you liked and the first Tuesday of the month you would pop in and pick up your next 'mystery'. Of course it wasn't a mystery for me as mine was the shop sample.
We would have a car load of ladies travel a good 3/4's of an hour once a month to pick up their monthly mystery, stay for a chat, coffee and a muffin. I remember one day  being over joyed by these ladies sitting on the shop floor with coffee and muffin, chatting and laughing! They were just so happy. Of course now the shop is much bigger and there is no sitting on the floor!

Our much loved and well attended Annual Exhibition is on Saturday where we can share good company, wonderful quilts, lovely fabric, yummy food and relaxing music.

This was my first go a Trapunto and apart from a table runner is the only Trapunto I have done. I am very keen to do some more when time permits.

I read a couple of great books -  'Heirloom Machine Quilting' by Harriet Hargraves and 'Quilting for Show' and 'Whitework Quilting' by Karen Mctavish .And had a go!

P.S : I wanted to take the opportunity to say Hi to my new followers, welcome! and I do love you stopping by.

Birthdays, Charity and a special day.....

The following photo's are a quilt I made for my niece who is turning 21 in a few weeks. I made this quilt as leader and ender of a few months. My original inspiration came from Julie  when she was doing a 'string -A -long' that made me get a move on, so thank you Julie!
I used fabric foundations and all my scrappy strips. The setting was from an old book called :'Scrap Quilt' -strips and spiderwebs -by Marcia Lasher.
I made a scrappy backing and had fun doing a quick quilting job.
Next to show you is a charity quilt I have recently finished quilting for the Round Robin group I belong to. At the beginning of the year we decided to make a quilt to give away to charity. Rather than make a block I volunteered to quilt the finished top, someone else put the blocks together and everyone else made a block and if you pop over here you will see some of us sewing the binding down.
As a group we have decided to donate the quilt to Project Promise it is a local organisation. We will have this quilt plus another on display and for sale at The Country Yard's Annual Exhibtion  this Saturday.

Next is a wee peep of something I have just finished and will be on show this Saturday also.......
